French Polynesia
17th October 2025
While I'm not a "hang out on the beach" kind of person, French Polynesia offers a tropical paradise that a landscape photographer can really enjoy. The volcanic islands boast some of the most challenging hikes through lush jungles to the remains of eroded craters. The turquoise waters and sea life are stunning as was the snorkeling. Below are some of the remarkable sites from a brief visit to the Society Islands of Moorea and Bora Bora.

The sweeping views from Three Pines Lookout on the island of Moorea. A slippery jungle hike towards sunset and a clearing rain storm accounted for the atmospheric lighting.

The iconic peak of Otemanu is the highpoint of Bora Bora at 2,385 ft. Storm clouds hovering around the peak produced the spectacular lighting.

The uninhabited heart shaped atoll Tupai near Bora Bora.

Lenticular clouds, normally found in high mountain ranges, were a pleasant surprise one evening hovering above Mount Otemanu in Bora Bora.

Mount Rotui rises 2,970 feet above the surrounding jungles and bays on Moorea.

Stormy weather surrounding Bora Bora's Mount Otemanu. Though only 2,385 ft high, the peak still remains unclimbed due to its sheer summit walls, crumbling rock composition, and slippery footing.
East Greenland 2.0
25th August 2025
I recently returned from an expedition tour up the East Coast of Greenland, generally north of the region where I visited in 2023. Many of the fjords were unmapped, but zodiacs allowed access to the shallows for land hikes. Some spectacular views under the midnight sun, where the sun never sunk below the horizon. Below is a sampling.

A rainbow appeared over an iceberg around 1 AM during our departure from Scoresby Sound, the world's largest fjord system.
